Stitch Fetish Exhibition

I’m excited to have some work on show as a part of the Stitch Fetish exhibition in Los Angeles.

2 – 2 March 2013
The Hive Gallery, Los Angeles

This is the latest show curated by Ellen Schinderman at The Hive Gallery in Los Angeles. The exhibition will explore the art of the stitch (a rite unto itself), revealing the fetishised secrets lurking in the minds of the artists. The show will present works of erotica and titillation; works of dark fantasy and longing; works of secrets never told, but long desired.

stitch (verb)
1a : to fasten, join, or close with or as if with stitches
b : to make, mend, or decorate with or as if with stitches

fe·tish (noun)
1 a : an object believed to have magical power to protect or aid its owner; broadly : a material object regarded with superstitious or extravagant trust or reverence
b : an object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion : prepossession
c : an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression
2: a rite or cult of fetish worshipers
3: fixation

The work will feature two images from my ‘Bound’ series of unicorn embroideries. These works bear reference to images of sexual bondage games which represent both the capture of the unicorn and the sexuality of the unicorn as a symbol of fecundity.
