I’ve been fiddling with the template that I developed for my black dolls for quite a while trying to adapt so that the arms are composed from separate pieces that can be jointed. In theory this seemed like a straight forward enough operation but in practice it has taken a lot longer than expected trying to get it ‘just right’.
This little green man is constructed from the final template that I’m going to use for some more individual pieces that will hopefully combine elements of my earlier dolls with my more recent ‘Orifices’ in an exploration of the abject body.
I’m actually quite keen on the stitches in this work which are something of a happy accident as I had no green thread left. It gives the object that Frankenstein’s monster kind of feel. It won’t be particularly apparent when working with fur due to the hair but is something to consider for the future.
Materials used for the little green man:
- Felt
- Cotton Thread
- Polyester Fibres
- Clay
