The Postman Always Delivers

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012
Posted in: Artwork, Blog

This little drawing which I’ve entitled ‘The Postman Always Delivers’ is something I concocted for magical Marie-Louise Plum’s current mail art project. It’s currently on display in Walthamstow, London, and I understand there may be plans to tour this wonderful collection of work… watch this space!

There is a rolling call for submissions so if you’d like to contribute to this project have a look at the details on Mademoiselle Plum’s website right here >> www.marielouiseplum.com. The current call has a deadline of the 2 April 2012 so get your doodle on kids.

Trans-Siberian Art Centre Images

*Images courtesy of KITCHEN projects, 2011

I’ve had news just in that the Britt and Jon of the Trans-Siberian Art Centre has succesfully made it all the way from Moscow to Beijing. The project involved the team taking over one of the carriages on the trans-siberian train and turning it into a nomadic art space with a somewhat captive audience.

You can see from the pictures above how the carriage was decorated with contribution from an array of different artists, including your favourite purple spiky fine artist. If you look carefully you can see my contribution in the photographs above.

As Jon and Britt confess the the T-SAC started ‘as an idea that didn’t have much more genesis than a “Why not?” being laid on the pub table one night’. By all accounts the project turned out to be a roaring success.

In addition to the exhibition of postcard sized artworks, travellers were also treated to a number of performances pieces both in the carriage and on the station platforms along the way including ‘Slap’ by Anastasia Klose which sounds like it was interesting accomplpishment given the space restrictions.

You should definitely head on over to the T-SAC blog and read the teams brief account of their adventures: http://trans-siberianartscentre.blogspot.com.

The Cut-Click mail art exhibition is continuing to tour around the UK. The next exhibition opens this Tuesday 1 February 2011, at the Artlandish Gallery, Cleethorpes. Amongst the fine contributions are a couple of contributions from myself so why not pop along and see if you can spot them.

Keen followers will no doubt remember that yours truly organised and curated the Cardiff leg of the exhibition’s tour all the way back in August 2010. You can still view my little time-lapse video of the exhibition installation right here.

Birmingham Zine Festival Postcard

Friday, November 12th, 2010
Posted in: Blog

I got this lovely little treat in the post yesterday.

I took part in the Birmingham Zine Festival’s postcard exhibition back in September. The postcards that were submitted were then sent back to a different exhibitor once the show was over. I’d completely forgotten about it as it’s been a while since the show was up so it was a nice surprise to receive this little artwork. It’s signed ‘Earpsie’ who I’m guessing is Craig Earp. You can check out his work here: www.graphic-design-birmingham-uk.co.uk

Posted in: Blog, Publications

I received my copy of Mail Me Art: Medium Without a Message (ISBN: 978-0-9566320-0-5) this week which is the catalogue of a little project that I took part in earlier this year that culminated in an exhibition in Brixton, London, in July.

The book features work by artists and designers for all over the world who all contributed a piece of their work to this project. If you would like to get your hands on a copy of this book you should visit the Mail Me Art website here.
