Cut-Click Mail Art Exhibition: Cleethorpes

Posted in: Blog, News Feed

The Cut-Click mail art exhibition is continuing to tour around the UK. The next exhibition opens this Tuesday 1 February 2011, at the Artlandish Gallery, Cleethorpes. Amongst the fine contributions are a couple of contributions from myself so why not pop along and see if you can spot them.

Keen followers will no doubt remember that yours truly organised and curated the Cardiff leg of the exhibition’s tour all the way back in August 2010. You can still view my little time-lapse video of the exhibition installation right here.

Cut-Click Cardiff: Exhibition Installation from Sp:ke Dennis on Vimeo.

Whilst hanging the Cut-Click mail art exhibition at the Milkwood Gallery last week I my DSLR set up to shoot this time-lapse video of me hanging the show. I thought it would I nice little way to document the exhibition in addition the usual photographs which you can find on my Flickr pages.

It’s the first time I’ve ever made a video so it’s a little rough but I pretty happy with the outcome. For the record the music I’ve used is called ‘Song About My Dog’ by Bop on Med School records; although I’ve edited it rather heavily to fit the duration of my video.

The exhibition continues until the 12 September 2010
at the Milkwood Gallery, Lochaber Street, Cardiff CF24 3LS

Some of the artists who feature in the exhibition include:
Adoxographic Editions, Stuart Adams, Will Adams, Lesley Barnes, Jonathan Ben-Abeer, Rebecca Bold, Jeffrey Bowman, Alice Bradshaw, Dan Button, Chloe Cook, Emma Cowley, Warren Craghead, Abigail Daker, Sarah Ferrari, Red Fox, Patrick Holley, Jellyface, Matt Joyce, Layer, Chris Lillywhite, Graham Lister, Littleclouds, Le McLennan, MrYen, Munano, Louise Norman, Marie-Louise Plum, Steve Rack, S. Riemer, Tigz Rice, Fabio Sassi, Roberto Scala, David Shillinglaw, Penny Tristram, Darren Turner, Caroline Twidle, Simon Warren, Alexis West, Stuart West, Simon Wild and April Virgoe.

Cut-Click: Issue 1

Posted in: Blog, News Feed, Publications

Those lovely folk at Cut-Click very kindly invited me to contribute a little something to the first ever printed edition of their fabulous art and design zine and this week I finally got my hands on a copy of the finished article. I might be a bit biased but it really is a rather gorgeous little thing. I’m not giving you any sneaky little pictures of the insides, you’ll have to go buy yourself a copy from the Cut-Click store right here - but be quick as the are strictly limited edition.

In case you’re wondering, the delicious cover design you can see here was created by the fantabulous Tigz Rice: www.tigzrice.com.

Other artists included in Cut-Click Issue 1 are:
Simon Philipson, Robin Boyden, Adam Whitham, Gareth Hopkins, Tigz Rice, Carl Harris, Jo Cheung, David Shillinglaw, Marie-Louise Plum, Sarah Ferrari, Danny Coyne, Pino Lamanna, Simon Wild, Warren Craghead, Jonathan Chapman and Lesley Barnes.

Of course if you’re poor and penniless, or perhaps, just a bit of a tigt fisted bugger, you can check out all the digital issues of Cut-Click on their Issuu pages for absolutely nowt. Enjoy!
