Initial Ideas

I’ve had myself a little time off everything over Easter hence the quietness. Although I had some thoughts about my paintings whilst I was having a stroll this morning getting back to the nine to five and I thought I should record them before they’re forgotten. They were just some simple ideas really that I think could spark off some new work. My main thought was that I should invest in some white fabric and broken mirrors and glass to create some snowscapes. I’m thinking Loch Maree on a snowy day meets the Ice Queen from the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. It crossed my mind that the purity of a white landscape like that would much better suit the theme of Elysium than the multi coloured-ness I have in mind. Well at least in some peoples eyes. I suppose that would be open for debate – Would Elysium be pure and white or bright, vibrant and colourful?

Another thought which has cropped up a few times that I’ve yet to properly run with is that I should paint my fabric moguls with washes of colour to break up the uniform-ness of their colour as they are at the moment.

I was also thinking I should create a little haven surrounded by water not barbed-wire. For some reason Tracy Island came to mind with this thought but I still thought it was one worth running with. Maybe incorporating the 7 cantrevs into the design somehow.

I need to remind myself to actually get on and do these things. I think maybe I need to invest in a whiteboard for my studio!
